First of all I have completely lied in my strap line because I haven’t written a post since my first post which was at least 4 months ago.

Wikileaks

A lot has happened in that time. There has been the whole Wikileaks media storm. This was such an amazing story of the “people standing up to the man”. The public absolutely defied the American government by taking down Visa and MasterCard while mirroring Wikileaks all over the place at the same time.  This proves that real democracy does exist because there are enough of us who still care to stand up and do something when the government tries to throw its weight around. The only thing Julian Assange did was make available knowledge that we are more than entitled to know. The whole sexual assault just has to be 100% a government conspiracy. What better way to brush him under the carpet? Get him in jail and try and take the site down while the core is weak.

There have been examples of this sort of behaviour decade after decade with the Americans. All you have to do is watch Zeitgeist The Movie. It is a brilliant insight in to all things religious, 9/11 and the economy and really opens your eyes to what is going on behind the scenes.

Egypt

I think the other on-line related story of absolute public heroism has to be the overthrowing of President Mubarak in Egypt. It is still such raw news and I’m sure you are all sick of reading about it but I just have to give the whole story a mention because of the absolute historic importance. All in all it is yet more proof of how powerful the internet is. I really hope our governments look at this in fear because if a country under the same rule for 30 years can break free of their government, who says we can’t?

I’m not in suggesting we riot and demonstrate but I think we should really push for things like the voting referendum and just how politics work in general. We are lucky enough to live in a democratic state, that doesn’t mean we should feel like we have to be happy with what we have got. We are all much better than that!
